A lump came up on my retrievers ear over the weekend, size of a satsuma, got an appointment straightaway. The vet Eleanor was brilliant gave me three options for treatment, no shoving the most expensive at ne as my dog is terrified being there. Booked in for following day, they tried every option before giving her general anaesthetic was contacted to be informed of what was happening.git her home just after 2pm. I’ve been going to this vets for over 30yrs and honestly cannot recommend them highly enough.

Our dog is extremely anxious/nervous and gets treated out in the carpark. The vet was organised prior with vaccinations to control even more stress. Fantastic job.

I was recently quoted £1200 for a spay and 'fatty lump' removal of one of my dogs. How is the removal of a surface lump more than the removal of an entire organ? I'm not a vet, but I'm also not naive. I contested the high price and they instantly dropped it to £450 (still more than it should be as I know a spay is around £250-300), but whatever, I agreed. Prior to this I was told the 'fatty lump' could be cancerous and told I should spend £250 on tests to see if it was cancer. It turned out it was a hernia that later, a more competent vet noticed and diagnosed immediately. My dog had been left with a misdiagnosed hernia for 4 months during the undergoing of these cancer tests (there was the risk it could've burst and killed her). I was appauled. I complained to director of the practice who seemingly didn't care and tried to do everything to avoid removing the cancer test charge from my bill. I paid the full bill and moved all of my dogs to a new practice. I've had problems with rude vets here several times over the years, but this was the final straw. Will never go back and urge anyone thinking of joining to read the posts about this practice in the Lostwithiel Facebook group where many more people share much worse stories than mine.

I visited Pelyn vets lostwithiel on the 4 August because my dog Daisy had been up all night coughing and I was very concerned for her health. I rang the out of hours service and spoke to a very nice helpful lady and she told me to visit Pelyn vets at 0900 the next morning. I did this was told not to come into the practice due to Daisy having an undiagnosed cough etc, which is fair enough. A very pleasant lady looked at Daisy briefly in the Carpark and straight away said that Daisy needed an X-Ray told me the X-Ray alone would cost £400 + other test probably in excess of £1000, I declined and left because I thought that was expensive. I then received a bil for a less than 5 minute look over Daisy which included a discussion about their extortionate prices of £65, I did challenge this to basically be told it is what it is. I have withheld payment while I decide my next move and I full intended to pay it under duress and I have now received a letter from dept collect informing the bill had gone up 8% because of late payment. Seems to me unless you have a bottomless pit of money I would avoid this place and also it seems that they are more concerned with profits than animal welfare, it’s a shame because the people that work there are very nice. I have paid there bill.

We nearly put out our dog to listening to this practice. Quoted over 7k for specialist surgery at a partner practice as no one else could do it.. as dog deteriorated we thought that was the end. Until a separate practice got in touch to do the same surgery at half the cost.. we trusted them, have for years and only by fluke chance the other vets called us in time as we were hours away from saying goodbye to our dog.. Team were lovely, but obviously the company stamped the care out for profit. Even worse is the other vet had referrals from them so they know they were there to help and choose not to say and even when euthanasia was the option., stayed silent We removed our dogs, our family and friends in 1 day all began doing the same Honestly disgusting and disappointed as been with them for years A poor pooch nearly put to sleep far too young purely for greed. Will tell anyone we meet to get their pets away after that experience, how many owners have lost beloved pets as they trusted them? Or paid for above for treatments.. Just sad
