I am writing this review on behalf of a close friend who had an injured wild pheasant that had been attacked by a dog. He initially contacted the practice and was told that wild birds are usually euthanised, which is why he did not bring it in straight away. When the bird failed to improve, he called again and was advised by a different member of staff to bring it in, as a wild bird specialist could assess whether it was viable to treat. On that basis, he brought the bird to the practice and was told it would be kept overnight. He specifically asked to be contacted before any decision was made to euthanise the bird. When he called the next day to check on its condition, he was told the bird had already been put down. No explanation was given, and he was told there were no notes explaining why the decision had been made. When he attended the practice in person, he was still unable to obtain any further information. The most distressing aspect was not the outcome itself but the lack of communication and the fact that the advice given initially was not followed, nor was the request to be contacted before euthanasia respected.

Got an emergency appt for my dog within two hours of calling. My dog had to stay for two nights and they took good care of him and called me regularly with updates. I felt he was in very good hands.

Refused to sell larger metacam £21 for 10ml £31 for 32ml Ongoing medication for dog that has been on this for months, just their way of getting more £ out of people, very disappointing, have been with them over 30 years 😟 09/10/25 I’ve added here as you cannot respond to their feedback, the standard message that they leave if someone reviews with a low score I won’t be emailing in as they had the opportunity to deal with my complaint prior to payment at the reception which fell on deaf ears. My original review stands Dissatisfied.😒

We are on holiday and my dog hurt its tail. I rang Rosevean vets up at 8am and got an appointment at 8.45am on the same day. The receptionist was really lovely and so helpful. We saw a lovely vet who did a thorough check on Toffee. I can’t recommend this vet’s enough and they gave us piece of mind to continue with our holiday. Thank you so much 🤗

Once in a while you come across someone who truly excels at their job on all fronts. This person is Rosie Watkins who happened to be on the emergency night shift on the date we had a crisis with our elderly diabetic dog. We cannot fault her and will forever be indebted to her for literally saving the life of our Border Terrier, Dave. Rosie was just perfect, very knowledgeable, very thorough, hard working (indeed over the 3 days our dog was admitted, she seemed to be present day & night!) but at the same time compassionate and kind without being over sentimental which suited us. An honest approach to what could be expected in terms of success of possible treatment & costs associated with it. No false promises & no surprises. We phoned several times for updates and despite being very busy, she always took our calls and gave us honest updates on Dave's progress. I have to mention that Dave was in such a terrible state initially that we also discussed euthanasia, it seemed there was next to no hope when he was first admitted... but 3 days later, Dave has returned home with us which is a miracle!!! This was only made possible thanks to Rosie's professionalism and the amazing team of nurses who cared for Dave at all hours of the day and night. We felt they all truly cared for Dave's wellbeing as well as ours. What can we say, Rosie you truly are an exceptional Lady and Rosevean are very lucky to have you there flying the flag. If they haven't already, they should give you a massive pay rise. ;-) Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and thank you for studying all these years to save the lives of our beloved pets.
